Solid surfaces offer a smooth, seamless, clean appearance. Solid surfaces allow anyone to create any space with maximum individuality. There are hundreds of colors to choose from. Solid surface allows you to design with inlays, seamless backsplashes and solid surface sinks. Solid surfaces are non-porous, so they do not have to be sealed, and they are very easy to clean and maintain. This material would be perfect for the exceptionally clean client, as it is resistant to growth of mold, mildew and bacteria. Cleaning solid surfaces is exceptionally easy with a soapy water solution, ammonia based cleaners, or a solid surface cleaner available at local hardware stores.
Solid surfaces are available in three finishes: matte/satin, semi-gloss and high-gloss. Solid surface will scratch, stain and burn, but the product is made the same color throughout so it can be repaired. A light sanding of the product with the manufacturer’s recommended instructions can repair minor abrasions. Using a separate cutting board, hot pad and coaster are always recommended to help eliminate any damage to the surface. Available edge choices include bullnose, roundover and ogee. A few of the solid surface brand names that you might recognize are Corian, LG Hi-Macs, Wilsonart, Hanex, Brionne, Staron and Avonite.
